Robert
Gates - Secretary of Defense
Born
in 1943, Robert Gates is the current Secretary of Defense selected by none other
than George W Bush. Obama has let it be known that he will retain Gates. While
this is a smart move, it still is hypocritical when compared with his campaign
promise of "change."
Gates served for 26 years in the Central Intelligence
Agency (CIA) under the senior George Bush who headed the CIA at the time. Gates
probably knows more about Obama than Obama himself.
Unlike people that Obama
is choosing to add to his administration, Gates is qualified both in character
and in knowledge.
Interestingly, let's recall that Obama said the Surge would
not work and that we were defeated in Iraq. Obama was proven wrong and still can
not admit it. If we had followed Obama's plan of surrender and defeat, we would
have lost all respect in the world; being called a paper tiger and terrorists
would be flocking to our shores. Fortunately, with Bush's leadership, we persevered
and have victory in Iraq and soon in Afghanistan and have not been successfully
attacked at home since 9-11.
So, we must wonder why Obama has decided to retain
Gates, at least temporarily. The first thought is that there are absolutely no
liberals that have any knowledge of the military. Maybe Obama figures he's going
to gut the military anyway, so it doesn't matter who is the Secretary of Dense;
or maybe it's become clear to Obama that he will be unable to stay in office once
America's enemies are free to attack the US.
When Obama's most experienced liberal
democrat is Joe Biden and Biden is already his pick for vice president, there's
not much left in the democrats' bullpen. They want to punish democrat Joe Lieberman
who supported McCain, but left him still as Chairman of the Homeland Security
and Governmental Affairs Committee. Lieberman, who not only endorsed McCain, but
has supported the Bush policies on Iraq, is the democrat party's wisest member.
Liberals are extremely upset at this. However, they elected Obama along with his
running mate Biden. Biden stated that Obama was not ready to be president and
that he would proudly serve with McCain. Go figure.
