Christina
Romer - Council of Economic Advisers
Born
in 1958, Romer is a professor of economics at UC Berkeley. Ah, yes, Berkeley,
that wonderful liberal Bay Area city where they outlawed putting the American
flag on their fire trucks, gave Code Pink a permanent parking space in front of
the US Marine's recruitment office, voted to impeach Bush and passed an ordinance
to remove the US Marines' recruiting office from within their city. (They backed
off that last one when they were threatened with losing their federal funding.)
Romer
was going to be offered a job by Harvard's economics department, but Harvard president
Dean Faust wisely put an end to that nonsense.
Romer has not done anything,
except teach and do research. None of her academic studies have ever been put
to the test in the real world. However, anyone educated at Berkeley is not in
the real world.
Her most recent work has involved studying the impact of taxes
on government and general economic growth. Ms. Romer, we don't need to study that.
Taxes impede economic growth. Her real purpose in the Obama administration is
to have a token female and to figure out a way to tax the living daylights out
of us.
Updated
08/06/2010 Well, Romer was at least smart enough to jump
off the sinking ship. She resigned, yesterday. Under the Obama
administration's policies, unemployment is close to ten percent with "real"
unemployment (calculated by adding those who have just given up "hope"
of ever finding a job) is at about 17%. Add to that the largest deficit in US
history and taxes that are scheduled to skyrocket on 01/01/2011 and we're about
to experience a depression far worse than the Great Depression. Romer
surprised the Obama administration by speaking the truth. She was often at odds
with the sleepy Larry Summers,
Obama's director of the National Economic Council. |
